Key Factors in Choosing an Infield Mix

Video Transcription

Hi I’m Randy, I'm here at the quarry for Sports Field Solutions in Granbury Texas. We have a very unique situation here on our quarry where we have both types of clays that are used on baseball fields. One is used for the mound and home plate which is a heavier clay and one is used for the infield which is a lighter clay and heavier sand model clay. We're able to Corey both of these naturally without blending them and distribute those for specific types of clay. What are the factors to be considered when choosing your infield next? There's several factors that you consider come in your budget, your maintenance capabilities, the level of play and performance of the clay, and what the expectations are for it, and the climate you're in. Our East Texas customers traditionally have more rainfall and our West Texas customers traditionally have less rainfall. So depending on the weather and the climate in which you apply or use these clays is what dictates what type of material we may recommend. Again, It's all very relative to your budget and your maintenance capabilities and the style play or the level of play which is going to be utilized. Is there a difference or expectation or recommended ball field clay when you're going from Recreation, to high school, to Collegiate or to professional sports? They're again, all very relative as to what their capabilities are, and what their expectations are and the amount of play these facilities utilize. So we try to custom tailor several different choices of ball field clays that we produce and blend outside of our natural quarry clays to custom fit each one of these facilities, to meet their expectations and budgets.
